The Design Process
We start the process with inspiration for the prints, which we can find in almost anything, but usually comes from travelling. This inspiration gets shared with our in-house Textile Designer, who then comes up with some pretty amazing concepts. Our textile design process is an exciting one, because there are multiple elements to creating a print that we can apply to a fabric. Everything is exclusively drawn, painted and illustrated in-house at SABO HQ. From there we tweak the colours toturnit into something that will translate best onto the fabrications that we choose.
We use high quality fabrics for all of our prints to create that luxurious feel that SABO has become known and loved for.
It takes about a year from the point of conception of the idea to when it is available for purchase on the website and in stores.Β From the inspiration and the printΒ design, we then move to designing the collection which can be an arrangement of design sketches that have been curated by theΒ Design Team, down into a more concise collection of their favourite pieces. From there they will pick the fabrics and prints thatΒ will go best with each design so that each piece is cohesive in the collection.Β
Our sampling process is next and involves documenting all of the individual specifications for each design into a tech pack, ready to send to our factories whoΒ create our samples. The Design Team meets every week to fit samples on different body types, making sure each item fits as intended. Each design is sampled with our in-house pattern makers who mark and measure each piece to ensure the fit of each design is perfect and that our end-product is of the highest quality. This step is important, so that we know everyone can find something amongst our collections and feel confident in our pieces.
